Nancy has been on medical leave since suffering a fall during one of her typically hectic work days as she rushed to the news set. However, she had already decided previously that she would retire from the job she loves this fall.
Nancy began her television news career at ABC30 in 1977. She's reported on countless stories and events important to the people of Central California and she's given her time and effort to numerous non-profits and charities over the decades. Most recently, Nancy co-anchored Action News Live at Five with Warren Armstrong and wrote a popular blog for abc30.com. Nancy's blog, "The Red, White, and True", focused on stories regarding the Valley's military personnel and families.
Michael Carr, News Director at ABC30, says, "Nancy Osborne has had an extraordinary impact on television in Central California. She is an incredible journalist, newsroom leader, and is dedicated to serving our community. We can't thank Nancy enough for her hard work and commitment to ABC30."
As one of the few female anchors and reporters working in television news in Central California in the '70's, Nancy became a role model for many young women in the industry, even up until her retirement. In 2005, the Northern California chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences inducted Nancy into the prestigious Silver Circle for her commitment of 25 years or more to the Fresno television market and the broadcast news industry.
As she continues to heal from her accident, Nancy plans to stay in Central California and enjoy her family, especially her two granddaughters. However, Nancy say she's not done giving back to the community she loves. In the future, Nancy hopes to use her talents to assist others.
Nancy had this message for ABC30 viewers as she announced her retirement: "Without the kind of support from all of you... I never would have lasted 20 minutes in this business let alone 20, 30 years... and it is because of the folks who watched us every day, who listened to us when we called and asked them to talk with us about something that was wonderful, happy, unhappy, sad, difficult, and opened up your homes, your businesses, and your hearts to let us tell stories that make a difference in this community and enlighten the people around them... and for that, I am absolutely grateful."
