Thursday, Designer Shoe Warehouse, or DSW as it's known, opened its first store in the Central Valley.
The Villagio Shopping Center in North Fresno now has a new store on the block. Thursday morning, DWS Designer Shoe Warehouse opened its doors.
Jim Miers with DSW says the company decided to open its first store in the Valley after hearing from customers. "We're excited. For DSW, this our 344th store and its our first one in the Fresno area. It's really exciting to be in the Central Valley, said DSW Regional Director Jim Miers.
The selection of thousands of designer shoes drew many of the customers in on opening day. "It's overwhelming. I'm very excited to get in and look at all the different shoes and the handbags. I love purses and shoes."

Kias Gockman and her baby girl Lennon were among the first shoppers to get a look at the rows of shoes, but she came with a plan. "Just fall boots. Tall fall boots."
DSW says some of the big fall fashion trends include embellishments on things like boots, studs on heels, and of course bling never goes out of style. "So we have a variety of brands you can get anything from evening and wedding to boots to sandals in season," said Miers.
The 18,000 square foot store has more than 24,000 pairs of shoes and dozens of handbags. There are also shoes for the guys.
Shoe lovers like Cindi Luther were in shoe heaven at the store's grand opening. "This store incredible. I mean look around. It's like what can't you get in here?"
DSW has hired 40 people to staff the store. Meanwhile, DSW isn't the only new store in the area. Dress Barn, a clothing store is located next door to Best Buy in the Riverpark Shopping Center, is set to open Friday morning.
