Deliberations begin for an accused grandmother killer

VISALIA, Calif.

Raul Viveros is charged with murdering his 71-year-old grandmother in Tulare back in 2010.

Before jurors began deliberating, attorneys on both sides gave their closing arguments.

Prosecutors say Viveros took his grandmother's car after stabbing her more than fifty times at the Tulare home where both were living.

But the defense is arguing that since there is no visible sign of the victim's blood on his clothing or in the car, he could not have been responsible.

The jury will resume deliberations Wednesday morning. If they find Viveros guilty of first-degree murder, he faces 26 years to life in prison.
