Ordering marijuana at the click of a mouse

Police are seeing a troubling new trend, marijuana that's grown legally, but then sold illegally on the internet.

Fresno police arrested Herman Irvin, Mark Knife and Brian Christian on sales of marijuana and transportation for sales, in addition to other charges. The arrests were made Wednesday during a sting operation.

Only Action News was invited to go along with undercover officers as they arrested the suspects. Most of those online ads say they need proof of a doctor's recommendation for medical marijuana, but police say no one's been checking.

"We checked craigslist and found 100s of ads openly advertising marijuana for sale," Sgt. Bob Reynolds said. "We're trying to stop some of this activity. It's so blatant. If somebody calls craigslist add it might be the police on the other side."

Police say like many of these illegal operations, most are posing as legitimate medical marijuana grows.

In the video, Action News reporter Stephanie Stone has complete coverage on the story.
