Clovis Community Medical Center gets closer to completion

CLOVIS, Calif.

Clovis Community's multi-million dollar renovation continues to take shape. The 5-story bed tower opens on November 28th. Action News got a sneak peek inside the hospital and the recovery rooms which give patients lots of technology at their fingertips.

Nurse Janet McQuillan says with the new "Get Well Network" patients will get to experience entertainment and education with a push of a button and even order their lunch.

McQuillan said, "So I don't have to worry about it the patient can order when they want and then it will follow up with them."

Patients will also be able to relax in their own private rooms an some of them look more like a hotel room than a hospital.

The hospital has also redesigned its dining options. Here at the Grove, they're offering tasty and nutritious food, restaurant style.

The new dining area offers everything from fresh salads to wood-fired pizza, that's right pizza. Hospital officials say good food is important in the patient's healing process.

John Kass said, "It's all raw foods that they cook from so from a nutritional standpoint, I think that's part of what we are doing with the patient population, is a good meal that's nutritious as well."

The new tower is just the latest in the $300 million improvement project. Construction crews are still hard at work on a medical plaza and high tech health and education center.

Officials say the entire medical center should be complete in late 2013.
