Streets of downtown Houston are still echoing with the sounds of the H-E-B Holiday Parade, which kicked off at 9am.
Hundreds of thousands of people lined the streets for the 63rd annual event. Santa led the giant balloons and marching bands, and Disney star Kenton Duty was on hand. Your kids may recognize him from the show "Shake It Up." Pancho Claus was also there.
If you didn't make it, you missed out. U.S. News Travel rated the Houston parade one of the best Thanksgiving parades in the nation, and it's probably one of the few major city parades where you will the mayor riding a horse.
Then there was the 86th annual Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade in New York. There were 56 character and novelty balloons for this year's parade, including Spiderman and Hello Kitty. The parade kicked off at 8am.
One of the marching bands in the New York parade was from Houston. The Oak Ridge High School band flew out on Monday to get ready for the parade.
One more holiday favorite is the annual Uptown Lighting Ceremony. The event featured live music, the city's largest sing-a-long and Santa. There's also a huge fireworks show.
If you drive in that area, Post Oak was completely shut down by 3pm. It will reopen at 7am Friday.
Thousands of runners tried to burn off some calories before sitting down for Thanksgiving meals. The 20th annual TXU Energy Turkey Trot started at 7:30am.
This year some 15,000 walked, ran and rolled in their wheelchairs to raise money for seniors.
