The accident happened on Avenue 416 near Road 120 in Orosi just after 1 a.m Saturday.
The CHP says a 19-yea- old was driving a Honda in the slow lane when she veered right and then turned directly into the path of a Yukon in the fast lane.
The collision killed the teen driving the Honda and left her18-year-old passenger with major injuries.
The 18-year-old driver of the SUV and her three passengers all suffered minor to moderate injuries.
Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the crash.
