The wreckage was located Monday morning near the Tulare County and Kern County border southeast of Porterville. Both of the passengers onboard didn't survive.
Johnston was the founder of Johnston Construction, one of the Central Valley's largest construction companies. His daughter, Karen, described Johnston as a man who loved life. "He'd use his plane to fly from job to job. He didn't care how far away the job was or how close it was, he just loved to fly. He wasn't someone that wanted to slow down. There was nothing about my father that was 72 years old except for the ten years he's been on the planet," said Karen Johnston. The FAA and NTSB are investigating to determine the cause of the crash.
