The police chief of Freeport is under investigation right now, and has been relieved of duty with pay.

Freeport's city manager tells Eyewitness News that Police Chief Tyrone Morrow was relieved of duty after the city received an internal complaint by several police department employees.

Freeport is bringing in an outside investigator to determine the facts, then make a decision.

Meanwhile, Lt. Dan Pennington is the interim Freeport police chief.

No other details were immediately available.
