January 31, 2013 (BURLINGTON, Wis.)

The flames broke out in Burlington Wednesday just after 6 p.m. It quickly escalated to an eight-alarm fire.

WISN-TV says all 100-200 workers in the Echo Lake Farm Produce plant got out safely. About 50 people in the area were evacuated as a precaution.

There was no word on a cause. A spokesman for Aurora Memorial Hospital of Burlington says the hospital is treating a couple of walk-in patients for smoke inhalation.

Echo Lake Farm Produce makes egg products and breakfast-style entrees.

Seventeen hours after it started, the fire was still burning. There was concern over leaking ammonia tanks.

Firefighters from more than 80 fire departments from southern Wisconsin and northern Illinois took turns fighting the raging blaze.
