Central High School east campus hosted the 31st annual Fresno County Academic Decathlon.

Teams of three competed in ten fast-paced examinations from a variety of categories, including: economics, speech, science and music.

They also took part in the biggest activity of the event the super-quiz.

Fresno County Office Of Education Jim Yovino said, "Tonight is the culminating activity it's the super quiz that you'll see in a few minutes that is the real super event this weekend, not the super bowl."

This year's theme was "Russia: the race for space". Dozens of supporters from each of the schools came out to cheer on their classmates. This year's champion was University High School.

The team will travel to Sacramento in March to compete in the state championships.

University High has gone on to be national champions seven times so best of luck to them.
