The two killed in the early Monday wreck are identified only as a man and woman in their mid-20s. The driver of the car survived and has been hospitalized for treatment of broken bones. He's also being questioned by police.
Officers say they believe alcohol may have contributed to the crash and he could be charged with two counts of intoxicated manslaughter.
Police Sgt. Shane Nagy says the train crew told officers it was impossible to stop the train from hitting the already mangled car as it landed on the tracks.
