Newly released surveillance video shows some bizarre behavior from a young Canadian woman who hasn't been seen since disappearing from a downtown Los Angeles hotel around Jan. 31.

The video, which was released by L.A. detectives on Wednesday, is from an elevator in the Cecil Hotel near skid row. The footage shows 21-year-old Elisa Lam pressing several buttons, stepping into the hallway and then exhibiting more unusual behavior.

She arrived in Los Angeles from British Columbia on Jan. 26. The nature of her visit was unclear.

Lam is of Chinese descent, has black hair, brown eyes and is about 5 feet 4 inches tall, weighing approximately 115 pounds. She speaks fluent English and Cantonese.

Police hope someone will recognize her and call 911.

Correction: A previous version of this article incorrectly stated the day Lam went missing. She was last heard from Jan. 31.
