ID theft ring busted in Northwest Fresno

FRESNO, Calif.

Detectives say all five collaborated to steal hundreds of identities. They even had personal information sent to fake addresses.

The Career Criminal Auto Theft Team busted all five at an apartment complex in Southeast Fresno near Balch and Chestnut Avenue. Detectives also found a stolen car, which was purchased from a dealership using a fake ID.

Detectives say found even more evidence inside the apartment complex. "We found a large operation of identity theft with computers, including purchasing things online and using ID's to do so," said Sgt. Tim Tietjen, Fresno Police Department.

Detectives are still trying to figure out how many people may be victims of this ring.
