The accident happened around 7:30 p.m. along Southbound Highway 41 and North Avenue. Authorities say 29-year-old Donald Brown-Brooks was wearing dark clothing and walking along the highway when he was hit by an SUV.
The driver Elidia Cervantes stopped immediately and stayed on the scene until emergency crews arrived.
Brown-Brooks was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators are still looking into Brown-Brooks to find out he had drugs or alcohol in his system.
