Fresno State Stunned by Controversial Late Call

It only took one play for the Diamond 'Dogs to get thrown for a loop in Sunday's series finale against San Diego State at Beiden Field.

The Aztecs evened up the game at two in the top of the seventh, via the Steven Pallares RBI triple to the gap in right center. The next batter was Mitch Bluman, and he brought home Pallares with the single to left center. Just like that San Diego State led 3-2.

The Bulldogs thought they had evened up the score in the bottom of the seventh. Chris Mariscal's sacrifice fly to center looked like it scored Trent Garrison. But the Aztecs would appeal that Garrison left third too early, and the umpire agreed, taking the Fresno State run off the board.

Head Coach Mike Batesole wasn't too pleased. He'd be ejected, and San Diego State would go on to win the game, and the series, with the 4-2 result.
