National agriculture week is officially underway

FRESNO, Calif.

In 2011, agriculture production totaled more than $6-billion. In Fresno County alone, more than 400 crops are grown on more than six-thousand farms.

"65% of the fresh fruits and vegetables that are consumed in the winter time in the eastern United States come from California," said Paul Wenger, Fresno County Farm Bureau.

Several other events will take place throughout the week in recognition of agriculture, including a special Ag Day at the state capitol on Wednesday.
