Walk Now for Autism Speaks draws tens of thousands to Pasadena

PASADENA, Calif.

Organizers say the walk raised nearly $2 million and also educated parents on how to better serve their children with autism.

"I decided I didn't want to hide my child away and I needed to go out there and educate myself and find the resources to help him," said parent Cecilia Monzo of Lancaster.

Eyewitness News Anchor Phillip Palmer served as emcee at the event and other ABC7 personalities also participated. ABC7 is a proud sponsor of the event.

An estimated 1.5 million Americans have been diagnosed with autism. That includes 1 of every 88 children.
