Mark Thompson with the Clovis Rodeo Association Board of Directors said, "We're just kind of getting warmed up because we have a big weekend ahead of me."
Crews have already been busy setting up the grounds and the ticket booth is ready for sales. This year marks the 99th year of rodeo action.
Thompson added, "Sales are really up for Thursday night the bull riding and Love and Theft, plus we're getting real close to maybe a sell out on Friday night which is a regular rodeo night followed by Dustin Lynch."
The four-day event has a little something for everyone, but it's also a special time for that western Clovis connection.
Victoria Lokey said, "I told myself I would never see myself in cowboy boots or anything like that but something about this place makes me smile."
Last year, 40,000 people from across the country came to watch the rodeo action. Many will stop by local stores like Sassano's.
Sassano's manager Bob Parks said, "We had people come down from Spokane, they were in yesterday and they bought some hats and they bought a western shirt and they used to live here, so they come back it's tradition. We get a lot families that come back."
Parks says he's hoping more people come through his store this weekend to pick up hats and more. While times have changed, Parks says the rodeo's nostalgia remains the same.
The Clovis Rodeo is among the top three in the state of California. Organizers are hoping the community will come out and support the rodeo this year.
