Good Samaritans honored in Fresno carjacking

FRESNO, Calif.

Fresno County Sheriff Margaret Mims honored the group during an awards and promotions ceremony in Downtown Fresno.

Investigators say Linda Lawrence was at a stop light at Willow and Nees last October when a man opened her car door and pulled her out. She laid on the horn and several passersby ran to help.

Lawrence says she is forever grateful for the gesture of kindness during those terrifying moments.

She said, "It was just surreal, am I living a movie? All these total strangers just came to my aid, they had no idea if he had a gun or a knife or anything and they didn't care."

The suspect had a prior criminal record and was recently sentenced to three years in prison for the latest crime.
