Right now, there are 21 arson cases, of those, 14 are gang related. Arson investigators and the anti-gang task force are working together, as their suspects are likely the same people.

During a monthly crime meeting, they discussed the most recent case, which happened on Monday.

Police say a man stabbed his girlfriend in a violent attack, and then set their apartment on fire.

Investigators say Adrian Verdugo is a gang member who's now a suspected arsonist.

It's one of many cases that are getting attention from both police and arson investigators.

Fresno Police Chief Jerry Dyer said, "Gang members are in the business of intimidating, retaliating, and whether it's through the use of a firearm or by committing arson."
