Tulare standoff ends

TULARE, Calif.

Sgt. Darron Altermatt said the incident started around 4:40 p.m. Wednesday when police received a phone call about a man who was flashing a gun around. That man went inside a home and refused to talk to police.

The man was refusing to talk to officers and refused to come outside. At one point, another man came out and said other people were inside, which then created the police activity.

When Action News asked whether there were kids inside or whether anyone inside the home was in danger, Altermatt said, "Just to ensure the safety of everyone involved we have no reason to believe anyone inside the home has been the victim of a crime or being threatened currently."

This activity brought the entire neighborhood out, with residents standing on street corners for most of the evening, watching and waiting to see what happens.

Police have not said if anyone was arrested.
