One injured in two Merced drive-by shootings

Merced Police said they responded to two separate drive-by shooting incidents on Saturday night.

The first shooting happened on Canal Street near 13th Street at around 8:20 p.m. Saturday. Police said when they arrived they found a victim who was uninjured. Police said they also found multiple shell casings on the ground. Police said the victim is a gang member and did not cooperate with the investigation.

Police said the possible suspects were last seen in a silver mini-van. No arrests were made and no weapons were found.

The second shooting happened around 11:25 p.m. on S Street near 1st street. Police said when they arrived, they found a young woman in her 20's who had been shot once in her right foot. Police said the woman was visiting a friend when an older dark blue Camaro or Firebird drove by and started shooting at the two women.

One of the women was hit and the house was hit several times. The victim was treated by paramedics and taken to Merced Medical Center Merced.

Shell casings were also found at this scene. No arrests were made and no weapons were found.
