Fresno Police got a call of an abandoned baby at a gas station at Jensen and Elm just after midnight. Officers say the father did give the baby to a couple to watch, but he knew the couple.
The couple then went to the police department. They told police the baby was given to them by a stranger.
The father later called the couple to say he could take the baby back, but by that time the child was already with authorities.
Police also added that the baby was taken to children's hospital and had a visible injury. They would not say what that injury was.
