Officer involved shooting in Visalia

Action News is on the scene of an officer involved shooting that happened around 5:30 p.m. at the intersection of Dans and Caldwell in Visalia.

The shooting involved Tulare County Sheriff's deputies. The shooting started after an armed robbery in the City of Tulare.

Authorities were on look out for a red Jeep belonging to the suspect involved in the armed robbery. A Sheriff's Deputy in Tulare County saw the vehicle and attempted to pull it over. After a short chase the Jeep wound up crashing into a power pole and then into an apartment building.

Right after the crash a shooting occurred between the officers and the suspect. The suspect was injured and taken to Kaweah Delta Medical Center. No officers were injured and no other injuries were reported.

The Visalia Police Department says the man was a bank robbery suspect out of the City of Tulare. The man is suspected of robbing the Wells Fargo Bank this afternoon.

Police will investigate whether or not this suspect is responsible for a string of six other bank robberies in Visalia and Tulare in recent months.
