FRESNO, Calif.

Fresno County had record growth in property values during the past year. County officials say the demand for real estate is driving up the value of property of all types with agricultural properties at the top of the list.

Property values increased by $3.2 billion, about a five percent increase from last year. That brings Fresno County's total property values up to $64 billion.

The assessor said, of the tax revenues, almost two-thirds go to students in the public school system. Fourteen Percent will go to the county's general fund and 22 percent will go directly to cities and special districts.
