Standoff in Santa Fe Springs Jack in the Box drive-thru: 1 in custody

A man is in police custody after a standoff in a Santa Fe Springs fast-food restaurant drive-thru.

The incident lasted several hours at the Jack in the Box at Telegraph and Carmenita roads.

Police tossed some sort of device near the car around 4:30 a.m. Thursday, which exploded, and the driver climbed out. He had been holed up inside his vehicle since late Wednesday night.

The man, who has not been identified, pulled into the drive-thru after being chased by police for driving recklessly near Whittier.
