Volunteers washed cars at the Arco station on Ashlan near Valentine for donations. A portion of the money raised will help send care packages to service members in Afghanistan. Organizers say gifts from home help our troops cope with long deployments.
"I myself being a veteran of 11 years I can tell you getting a care package overseas is an incredible uplifting experience, especially sometimes when it comes from a stranger," Rustin Lusk said.
Saturday's car wash also raised money to help the Valley's homeless. Organizers also planned a concert fundraiser at Clovis Hills Church Friday night.
