5 new stores coming to Clovis Crossing shopping center

CLOVIS, California

Some new businesses are coming to the Clovis Crossing -- and city Councilmember Nathan Magsig tells ABC30 they'll generate new jobs and sales tax revenue for families living in the area.

"The city council is very excited that we continue to see growth and development taking place at the corner of Herndon and Clovis Avenue," said Magsig. "Right now there's 20,000 square feet being developed, five different stores are going to be going in."

Among them? A new BevMo which will occupy nearly half of the square footage now under construction, and will create about 25 jobs alone.

Denny's will also open a franchise store in the center. And another 25 jobs will be created when a new dentist office, beauty shop, nail salon and Mediterranean restaurant are added to the lineup of stores already attracting shoppers.

Shoppers like Minda Gomez say they're looking forward to having more dining options closer to home, as well as place to do all of their one-stop-shopping.

As for when the new businesses will open, Magsig says it'll be at least a couple of months.

Magsig explained, "We're planning on having those five locations open up right around the Christmas holiday so for those individuals that are going to be shopping and looking for gifts for their family members; they can be patient and realize those stores will open before Christmas."

A gift - he says - for not only those hungry for a new place to eat or shop, but for those looking for work in the Valley.
