A Fresno County man was struck by lightning as a storm rolled through the Valley.

Neighbors say the man was hit by lightning in his own back yard. We're told he was trying to start a motor home when the lightning struck.

Witnesses say at the time, it was pouring outside; they all heard very, very loud thunder throughout the night and saw lightning spread many times across the evening sky.

One neighbor who saw the man moments after the lightning bolt hit him says she's grateful he was conscious when he was taken to the hospital.

"The lightning hit the ground right by him and just went through him," said Mildred Nulick. "He was just shaking and his blood pressure was off the chart and the ambulance took him."

Action News was told the man was able to talk soon after he was struck. One of the first things he said was to call his boss and let him know he probably won't be at work in the morning.
