NIACC-Avitech now works out of a 4,200 square foot facility.
"We're behind the scenes," said Jeff Andrews, NIACC's VP and General Manager. "We do a lot of testing, re-certification, and repairs of various aircraft systems, fuel, hydraulic, pneumatics, the things that a passenger doesn't normally see when he's flying on board an aircraft."
Andrews founded the company in Fresno in 1983. Over the years his work on airplane parts grew to include airlines around the country and is now going global. But as his business reaches new heights he knows the Valley will always be home base.
"We have a great labor pool to pull from both on the manufacturing side and the repair side for the aircraft," he said.
NIACC-Avitech did not disclose pay ranges for its workers, but Clovis City Councilman Nathan Magsig says the pay will likely be high enough for the 20-30 new employees to make its mark on the economy.
NIACC-Avitech is filling in an empty spot for Clovis. Their new location is a building left vacant after Pelco downsized. "So we have a building that wasn't generated a lot of revenue for the city of Clovis now occupied by a very fast growing business, a high-tech business that has high paying jobs," Magsig said.
The decision to move from Fresno was not easy for Andrews and the company. While Clovis did not offer financial incentives it promised an open door to city council, staff and the mayor's office for any help needed.
