A Clovis athlete is inspiring her peers by becoming one of the best cross country runners in the fourth grade.

Heaven Vallejos, a runner at Mountain View Elementary School, is completely blind. She is guided around the track by special education instructor, Norm Alston, who describes the terrain in detail.

The two say that they've formed a very special trust as they run along side each other at every practice and meet.

"It takes courage to not only to go without the cane, but to trust somebody else and that's what I feel really proud of, that she trusts me," said Norm Alston, Special Education Instructor.

"Cause I know him, and I know that he's not gonna run me into anything, and no bad stuff is going to happen," said Heaven Vallejos, runner.

Heaven said that one day she hopes to run, swim, and bike in a triathlon.
