New numbers show exports of almonds, walnuts, pistachios and tree-nuts have nearly doubled in the past five years. The report shows demand from China will be particularly important in the future.
About 40-percent of pistachio exports go to China, along with about 20-percent of almond and walnut exports.
China leads the world in walnut production, but still needs to import nuts to meet its domestic demand.
