6.8-mag. quake hits western Mexico coast

An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 6.8 struck the western coast of Mexico Saturday, according to the USGS.

The quake was centered 82 kilometers southwest of the town of Etchoropo, in the state of Sonora, and struck at 10:54 a.m. PT.

The quake hit at a depth of 6.2 miles (10 km) in the Gulf of California.

There were no immediate reports of damage or injury.
