Doctor uses Google Glass to assist with surgery

Dr. Brent Ponce, a surgeon in Alabama, recently used the glasses for a shoulder replacement. He video-conferenced in Dr. Phani Dantuluri -- 150 miles away in Atlanta -- to lend a virtual hand in the operating room.

Ponce's glasses transmitted live video of the procedure to Dantuluri while Dantuluri's hands were superimposed, via computer, over what Ponce saw on the operating table.

Google Glass was previously used by a doctor at UCSF to pull up x-rays on the glasses during a surgery.
