The State Department of Public Health said it will take steps to decertify the Porterville, Lanterman, and Fairview developmental centers because some patients were found in unsafe conditions.
The Department Of Developmental Services, which oversees the institutions, told the LA Times it has appealed against terminating the funding and that it is committed to making the necessary improvements.
If that does not work, the centers could start losing funding in May. That would affect the services received by 430 people.
