A special guest helped kick off the grand opening for a new public auction house Madera County.

Dan Dotson is the auctioneer in the hit reality show "Storage Wars." He did the calling at Public Auction-R-Us on Highway 41 near Avenue 11 in Madera County Saturday.

Dotson runs an auction house in Riverside Calif. and came up with his son as a celebrity caller. He also signed autographs and took photos with fans.

Dotson said auctions are great place to find bargains on many different items. But he said to be sure to set a price limit before walking in.

"Do your homework. If you see something you like at an auction figure out what it's worth. Figure out if there's a buyer's premium, you got sales tax. Figure out what the most money you'd want to spend on it, put that in your head, and if the auctioneer goes over that amount, then just stop. It's easy. You just walk away from it," Dotson said.

Public Auction-R-Us is free to attend and sells everything from electronics to games to government vehicles.
