Those who follow Fresno State Football heard about a possible deal in December. Now after weeks of negotiations, both sides have agreed to a new contract that should keep Tim DeRuyter in Fresno for the next five years.
Multiple media reports, including ESPN's Joe Schad who said the deal is for five years. He had three years left on his original deal which paid him roughly $650-thousand a year.
In his first two seasons as the top dog, Tim DeRuyter has gone 20 and 6. In 2012 the Dogs won the share of the Mountain West and lost to SMU in the Hawaii Bowl. This past season they clinched a league title outright with 11 Wins -- but suffered two losses out of their last three games including a defeat against USC in the Las Vegas Bowl.
