Police say around 1:30 p.m. Monday several people called 9-1-1 to say they heard gunshots inside a home. Paramedics said one other person was inside the home he came out and told them the victim was inside.

Police say the unidentified victim was pronounced dead inside the home. It's not clear whether that person in the home witnessed the shooting or went inside after hearing the gunshots.

"People may have seen little bits and pieces and they don't even know that that could be very important in our investigation. There could be one little tiny thing that someone heard or saw that could be what lets us solve this investigation," Lt. Jon Popaleo Fresno Police Department said.

Neighbors are too afraid to be interviewed on camera, but they say it's scary to know someone was killed in their neighborhood.

Police say the West Central Fresno neighborhood is a relatively low-crime neighborhood. They have not yet released the identity of the man killed.

There is no suspect description. And police say it's unclear whether the victim and suspects knew each other. Investigators also tell me it's too early to know whether this murder is gang-related.
