Fresno teen with cystic fibrosis to get life-saving lung transplant

FRESNO, Calif.

Elizabeth suffers from a severe case of cystic fibrosis. The 17-year-old was flown from Fresno to Lucille Packard Children's Hospital Stanford in January while awaiting a transplant.

The teen has been blogging about her experience with the disorder, hoping others will realize they're not alone.

The hereditary disease produces thick mucus that clogs the lungs, and it is not curable.

Earlier on Saturday, Elizabeth tweeted the news about her transplant, asking for prayers and calling it a great birthday present.
