The coroner's office has identified her as 48-year-old Veronica Canter. A Fresno police officer shot her at least twice at an apartment near Fourth Street and San Bruno Avenue. Chief Jerry Dyer says Canter was armed with a large knife when the officer opened fire.
Authorities first went to the area for reports of a woman dancing around and talking to herself. Investigators are now looking into whether Canter had drugs in her system or any mental problems.
