The violent crime impact team was called out to a Southwest Fresno neighborhood. When patrol officers tried to pull over a car with at least two people inside, investigators say a female driver refused to stop. That's when a man, who authorities recognized as a known gang member, jumped out of the car and ran away.
As he tried to escape, police say he dropped a loaded handgun.A K9 unit found the suspect hiding in nearby bushes.
The suspect was taken to the hospital and will be booked for possession of a firearm among other charges.
