Madera man arrested in golf course vandalism

MADERA COUNTY, Calif.

Madera County Sheriff's deputies say Tyler Thornton, 24, drove onto the Riverbend Golf Course on Saturday night. Extensive damage was done to the 8th and 11th holes. Course officials estimate the damage at $5,000.

Deputies received tips from the public about the incident and tracked Thornton to his home not far from the golf course. He was taken into custody and booked into jail.

Thornton reportedly admitted to the crime, saying it was just something he always wanted to do
