Fresno police are investigating an assault on a security guard at the IRS center.

Officers say Belinda Gomez, 51, drove past the guard post and swerved recklessly around the parking lot on Butler Avenue near Peach Avenue on Friday afternoon. They say she accelerated her SUV toward a security guard on a golf cart, who barely managed to get out of the way.

The suspect then sped away and later crashed at Belmont Avenue and Sixth Street, before running down the street.

Officers say Gomez was singing, yelling and dancing before they arrested her. She was taken to the hospital for a mental health evaluation, and is set to be booked on charges of assault with a deadly weapon, hit and run and resisting arrest.
