The Fresno State football Bulldogs wrapped up spring practice Saturday with their annual spring game at Bulldog Stadium.

And to answer the question on everyone's mind: No, Derek Carr's successor at quarterback has not yet been chosen. So yes, the quarterback position battle is still wide open.

Fresno State called Saturday's festivities the Spring Showcase, and in the actual scrimmage portion, Nick Toth's defense looked like it played a little bit better than Dave Schramm's offense. Case in point: On third-and-long situations, the defense only gave up two first downs in 12 tries, and even scored when Jamal Ellis returned a Zack Greenlee interception for a touchdown. Greenlee did come back to lead a 69 yard touchdown drive against the second and third stringers, so not all was lost there.

Fresno State will next get together for official workouts in early August, for fall camp.
