Window-smashing burglar targeting Fulton Mall businesses

FRESNO, Calif.

Fresno police say 58-year-old Sammie Little burglarized two businesses in a week, even after being put in jail.

A shattered glass window at Federal Jewelry was all that was left after police say burglar - Sammie Little - smashed the window early Monday morning.

Manager Rusty Ninnis said, "This is disturbing. It's the second time its happened and I've been here for 15 years -- hasn't happened before."

Rust Ninnis is manager of the Federal Jewelry near the Fulton Mall and says he's recently seen a trend of burglaries.

Ninnis added, "I guess he took a rock threw it through the window, grabbed a trumpet and grabbed some other things."

Fresno police officers were able to recover a trumpet and other belongings, but the mess had already been caused.

They also arrested Little for the second time in a week.

Investigators say just a week before the most recent burglary, officers caught Little with a shopping cart full of stolen goods from the Fallas Paredes store.

Longtime Fresno resident and downtown shopper Rolanda Bates was shocked to hear about the burglar that's causing so much damage.

"I do feel bad for the businesses because they're losing out on money," said Bates. "Its tough times right now. The economy is kind of low right now and everybody is trying to survive right now."

Employees tell us every burglary cost them hundreds, even thousands of dollars to repair the glass and the damage left behind. They're hoping to solve this expensive problem soon.

Fresno police are urging anyone who has information to call detectives at 621-7000 or 498-stop to remain anonymous.
