An Action News photographer was there as the toddler was taken out of an ambulance and carried to a medi-flight helicopter. Cal Fire officials said the child was conscious and alert, but was flown to a hospital as a precaution.
A witness by the name of William -- who asked us not to show his face on camera -- said he watched the whole ordeal happen about 100 yards out in the water.
"I saw a lady fall off her little bitty donut raft, and her baby fell off with her -- about a 3 year old," he said. "The baby started to drown; the mom wasn't able to get the baby, so a gentleman jumped in the water, and went out there and helped her."
Authorities have not released any other details about the incident, but the witness said the child appeared to be a little girl.
