Gas remains below $3 a gallon across Valley

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Drivers across the Valley are paying less than $3 a gallon for gas. Economists say that's the lowest amount many have shelled out in years.

David Salter supplies merchandise to more than 1,000 convenience stores from Porterville to Lodi. He says when fuel dipped below $3 his profits grew because people are buying more items at the checkout counter.

"In just the little bit of time since gas has gone down, our sales are up this month. Our sales are way up this month just because people have a little bit more spending money in their pockets and that's a great thing," said Salter.

According to AAA, so far gas prices have fallen for more than 80 days straight. The company expects a record number of people to travel this holiday season because of the lower fuel costs.
