FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- A Bullard High School teacher charged with three felony counts of rape and using drugs on his victim has pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Donald Mayhew was in court Wednesday morning with his attorney speaking on his behalf.

Mayhew was arrested last month following a three-month long investigation. Officers said his victim was drugged, and then sexually assaulted several times while unconscious.

Mayhew was a longtime reporter with the Fresno Bee and moved on to teach English at Bullard High School.

None of the crimes involve the students or the school, but Fresno Unified has put him on administrative leave as the investigation continues.
