FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- A burglar is in custody after officers discovered the man breaking into a grocery store at Olive and Maple avenues in east-central Fresno.

The store manager says he saw the suspect through security cameras trying to break into the ATM. After he was unsuccessful, he stole cigarettes and the cash drawer from the register, putting them into a duffel bag.

The manager called police and officers arrived and searched the building. They eventually tracked the suspect down on the roof.

The Fresno Fire Department's 20 foot ladder had to be called in to get him down. The suspect is now booked in the Fresno County Jail.
